Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy
‘The Worshipful Company of Saddlers is committed to encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion amongst our members and staff’.
The Aim
The overall aim of this Diversity and Inclusion Policy is to provide a framework in which the Company and associated Charities can:
- foster an inclusive, welcoming and supportive environment where different perspectives are valued, and everyone feels comfortable;
- ensure that its members and staff fulfil their potential based on merit regardless of age, disability, gender, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, ethnicity, religion or belief, or sexual orientation;
- create an environment free of bullying, harassment, victimisation and unlawful discrimination, promoting dignity and respect for all, and where individual differences and the contributions of all members and staff are recognised and valued;
- promote the diversity of its membership and the membership of its Court of Assistants, committees and workforce by recruiting, developing, rewarding, promoting and retaining the most talented people.
We celebrate the different contributions each can make. Our aim is to provide a supportive environment where we enjoy meeting and working with each other.
Our culture is to respect one another and act fairly, openly and honestly regardless of our position within the Company.
We are committed to creating a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment where we all demonstrate a commitment to living the Company’s values.
We set ourselves the highest standards of conduct and ensure failure to meet these standards are addressed quickly and transparently.
Whilst the Prime Warden, Wardens, Clerk, and Court Assistants will lead by example, everyone in the Company has a role to play in implementing this Policy. The Wardens will promote equality, diversity and inclusion best practice within the Company, increase visibility and awareness and support related initiatives.
‘The Worshipful Company of Saddlers believe in the dignity of all people and their right to respect and equality of opportunity. The Company values the strength that comes with difference, and the positive contribution that diversity brings’.
