The 2023 Saddlery Showcase has kicked off in earnest with over 800 invited guests expected to explore potential careers in the sector. Master Saddlers and Students from Capel Manor College, Walsall Leather Skills Centre and the Saddlery Training Centre have been showing off their skills to young pupils from City of London Academy Islington, Ebony Horse Club, Alleyn’s School, City University of London, the Fortune Centre for Riding Therapy, and the British Racing School.
Training courses and qualifications available in the saddlery and leather craft have been explained whilst the beautiful craftsmanship and skill of those that had won awards in the National Saddlery Competition were on display. Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, Master of the Saddlers’ Company joined staff and students to champion the opportunities available and to encourage all in the sector to pull together with those with equestrian interests.
The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, Kings Troop, Master Saddler Suzie Fletcher and Side Saddle Maker Rob Jenkins were also on hand to showcase their work and engage with those present.
