On a recent visit to the Saddlers’ Company’s affiliated Royal Navy Type 45 Destroyer, members of the Company were welcomed on board by the Captain, Ben Martin, and his No 2 Lt Commander James Smith and their liaison officer Clara Soffe. The visit marked the recommission of the ship after a period of refurbishment in dock. The Saddlers are particularly proud of the ship and its crew and the Prime Warden was delighted to present our annual prize for the best crew member to Lauren Parsons.
Lauren, the lead for Physical Training on board, was described by her Captain as ‘Utterly trusted by Command, Parsons is the exemplar of what an LPT can bring to a Ship. Her ability to motivate, boundless energy and determination, when coupled with effective leadership and ability to just “get stuff done” marks her out as a rising star of the PT branch. Her passion for people is palpable and HMS DUNCAN’s Ship’s Company would not have achieved its success thus far without her ability to inspire and drive activity for the ultimate benefit of all’.
