Today's 110 livery companies share the values of trade, education, charity and fellowship, giving a combined total of more than £75 million a year to charitable causes while each Lord Mayor of the City of London continues to be drawn from their ranks.
There exist more than 100 liveries today, all relating to different industries but sharing the values of trade, education, charity and fellowship within the community they represent and between communities. Livery companies have taken on a greater charitable role in recent decades: yearly, their combined charitable giving amounts to over £75 million.
The livery companies and the City of London continue a long, close and effective working partnership, sharing objectives and promoting the Square Mile. Each Lord Mayor of the City of London must still belong to one of the 110 existing liveries, and the partnership between the City and the livery companies is fostered through the dedicated Livery Committee.
The Saddler's Company is currently led by HRH The Princess Royal GCVO as Master, with Mark Romain MBE serving as Prime Warden for 2026/27. See team and membership for the full list of current officers.
