Pony Club Chair Tim Vestey Calls in on Master Saddler Godfrey Morris

EquestrianLast updated
In brief

The National Pony Club Championships once again played host to Master Saddler Godfrey Morris, who offered demonstrations and 'have a go' sessions, while Pony Club Chair Tim Vestey called in to see his work.

Craftsmanship and Tack Care on Show

Godfrey Morris, previously at the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery, offered demonstrations and 'have a go' sessions for participants, parents and supporters, alongside showing off examples of his own craftsmanship. His work can be seen at crowncraftleather.com. Also taking part was Helen Sida-Page, who educated and tested teams of young equestrians on tack care, optimum fit and management to help ensure their horses and ponies were comfortable and able to perform to their best. The sessions were hugely oversubscribed, a sign of growing determination among young riders to be the best possible custodians for their equine friends.

That same spirit was reflected in the keen interest shown in the Blue Cross Horse and Pony Care Championships, won this year by Heyfield Equestrian Centre.

A Shared Commitment to Welfare

The Company's support for the Pony Club, on both good tack fit and horse welfare and the promotion of inclusion, equality and diversity among members, volunteers and staff, underscores a firm commitment to responsible horse ownership and considerate riding, objectives shared with the Equine Fitters Council at equinefittersdirectory.org.
