16 intrepid Saddlers cycled 175 miles from the Walsall Leather Skills Centre to Saddler's Hall in the City of London, raising funds for Shelter from the Storm, a free emergency night shelter providing bed, dinner and breakfast for 36 people every night of the year.
The ride also shone a spotlight on the traditional heritage craft of saddlery and the growing range of courses and qualifications available at the Walsall Leather Skills Centre, the training hub set up by the Saddler's Company Charitable Fund in 2020. Along the route, riders called in on partnered charities and organisations including Summerfield Community Stables, Riding for the Disabled, the Pony Club, the British Horse Society, the British Equestrian Federation, RB Equestrian and the Horse Trust.
Thanks were extended to everyone who made the riders so welcome, and to the families, friends and supporters who helped raise nearly £30,000 for Shelter from the Storm, viewable at sfts.org.uk.
