74 members, family and friends visited Blenheim Palace to check on progress at Saddler's Copse, planted to commemorate the late Queen's Jubilee under the theme 'Plant a Tree for the Jubilee' in 2022, with the 800-plus saplings now well rooted.
The visit was organised to perfection by Phil Duff. Alongside checking on the Copse, the group took the opportunity to see recent works on the estate focused on creating a sustainable environment for the future, including an inspirational tour led by Estate Manager Roy Cox through the gardens to experience the sympathetic evolution of Capability Brown's landscape 300 years after its inception. The visit also included ongoing repair work to the roof and interior of the Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site granted in 1987, and a tour through the State Rooms.
The Company said it much appreciates the close relationship established with the estate and looks forward to further opportunities to align its charitable objectives with those of the Blenheim Heritage Foundation, including whether pupils from City of London Academy Islington, Alleyn's School, Southwark Special School or XLP might benefit from a day learning about sustainable farming practices.
