# The Archives

The Worshipful Company of Saddlers holds a collection of historical records at Saddlers' Hall, despite the loss of many documents when the third Hall was destroyed by fire during the Blitz. The earliest known document, a parchment dated between 1160 and 1193, is held in the library of Westminster Abbey.[^page]

## What Survives

Many of the Company's historical records were lost when the third Hall was destroyed by fire during the Blitz. Despite this, the Company retains a limited but valuable collection of historical records, including the Charter of King James I from 1607, the Charter of King Charles II from 1684 and the Charter of Queen Elizabeth II from 1995.
